Is it normal to be 13 and go into 9th grade?

My son is going into 9th grade and he is 13, turning 14 on November 29th. Is this normal? Like, will he be able to make friends with the older people in the class such as the 14 and 15 year olds. He skipped his 7th grade and went into 8th.

    My classmate was at that age while eveyone else was older. It's how your son copes though..hope he does well.

    I was 13 when I entered 9th grade (my birthday is in December). In my school it's normal; if you have a late birthday in my school, you could choose to be in the higher grade or the lower grade, so I didn't even skip a grade.

    Good for you. Just make sure your son is humble about it. There is nothing worse than a pretentious asshat who thinks they can talk down to everyone. Teach him to be humble and he will go far especially if he is intelligent. Nothing is worse than an intelligent ass though..its almost a waste.
