Is it normal to be a full atheist but believe in ghosts?

I mean, there are so many ghost stories and evidence that it's hard to not believe ghosts are real. I don't believe that these "souls" go to heaven or hell (which I don't believe in) but just guard the vicinity of where they died. I also recently went on the night Gettysburg haunted tour on my 8th grade east coast trip. I left with some experiences that will definitely add to my beliefs. And during the haunted tour I was telling my friends about this picture my stepdad took in Costa Rica that he showed me. A bunch of 10 year old kids are carrying a coffin that has a wisp of smoke above it. And there is one kid that is looking into the camera, and he is also the only one that is smiling. His black shirt had a picture of the Grim Reaper on it. Right when I told my friends this and I said the words "Grim Reaper", a chill went through me, from my face down my temples to my toes. It really freaked me out. So, is this normal?

  • Atheism is about rejecting the concept of being devoted/ruled by a god(s). It doesn't have to mean you reject spirituality.

  • I'm pretty much the same. I like to say I'm on Team Mulder.

You're a sloppy thinker, no offense. There is no proof of ghosts, at all, whatsoever. The same is true for God. No proof of a sentient creator in the design of the universe.

    Evidence for ghosts? Yeah right.
Moreover, you think they guard the place where there died. There's been an estimate of 100 billion humans living and dying on earth so that's a lot of potential ghosts. Where are they all? And I didn't even count animals...

I'm an atheist too. I think that if ghost or anything like that (not god or something like THAT) exists, there are evidence for it somewhere and that maybe we will know them in the future but maybe not. I wouldn't believe in something science can't prove.

Most Christians I've encountered do not believe in ghosts. They believe that spirits of the deceased either go to hell or heaven instead of remaining here on Earth.

Yer it's perfectly normal to be an atheist and still believe in ghosts. I was that way for many years. I don't believe in ghosts anymore though.
