Is it normal to be a "human dictionary?"
Everyone at school always asks me how to spell words. But, I feel like I'm a nerd because I am always right.

I am the one where everyone comes to who doesn't know what a specific word(s) ment.or when they needed a spell check on a word(s). -___- you're not a nerd because you're always correct. you're smart. you act as if it's a bad thing. c:
I was the human dictionary in school (won a school wide spelling bee to boot) and I still am around the house. It's annoying being a living spellcheck for my family members, but I don't complain because it helps build my "nerd cred".
I got this too when I was at school. Now I get asked to proof-read. Weird thing is, I only get asked to proof-read by people whose spelling and grammar are above average anyway.
Where I come from spelling is a pretty basic skill we learn when we are about 6 years old. Does everyone have dyslexia in your town?
