Is it normal to be a little scared to check my is it normal notices?

It isn't a strong fear, but every time I check what replies people have left to my comments on IIN, I find myself slightly scared by what they might have said. Do they want to start an argument I might lose? Have they called me out on a fact and made me look stupid? Will I have to formulate a witty reply? All things I'm a bit scared of having to do.

On one story I wrote, I was too scared to look at any of the comments people left because I felt embarrassed. It took me the whole day to build up enough composure, and sure enough, almost every comment was helpful and supportive. However, I still feel nervous.

Is it normal that I get scared, or at least anxious, when checking my is it normal notices? Is it a sign that I take my reputation here too seriously, or just that my vague social anxiety extends to the online world too?

    I do this sometimes too...especially if I stayed up too late the night before and was deliriously typing out comments. I'll see notices of a reply and I'm thinking, "oh fuck, what did I say?" Ah well, it's nothing to be nervous of. You don't have to write back.

    Yes, it's normal. But you post for opinions so you can learn. But there are jerks out there that will put you down no matter what. So don't give power to these people by letting them make you frightened to look at your notices. Ignore the idiots and learn from the serious comments.

    Some people are just here to argue and start fights and its very clear they are playing stupid on purpose. Its really annoying when people are just here to bicker though. If you want to argue a point is one thing but some people just enjoy starting fights.

    the only time i freaked out was when i came here and saw i had 45 notices waiting for me. most were comments on stories though so that was okay. but i seem to still get people who reply to my comments from over a year ago which i dont understand.

    I'm always afraid to check my notices for all the reasons you listed. My anxiety over it is so bad that most of the time I don't check the messages at all, unless 1) I remember what I said and 2) I feel confident about it. Which is maybe 5% of the time.

    Yeah I get that a bit too . I know lots of people won't see things the way I do and I also don't bother too much with grammar fussiness. I like rubbing the fool grammar types up the wrong way. And then there's the people that must be just so bored , they seem to just scan the internet nit picking - what a life !
    Either way I usually expect someone to be having a go at me when I open my mouth.

    I did this all the time. Especially when I drank heavily. I'd wake up to 27 comments and wonder what I'd revealed or thrown out there. One time I said something I still think is innocuous but which people consider was borderline crazy.

    After my recent posts, I logged on and seen that I have 55 notices. Then during that day there was about 30-40 more. I wasn't scared, but a bit of the sigh feeling due to having to read them all.
