Is it normal to be a solipsist?

Solipsism- the belief that the self is the only thing in existence, or the only thing knowable for certain (Reader's Digest Reverse Dictionary- under the table "Philosophies").
A group of people on the internet have become solipsists, and this happened after I became a solipsist by following it based on the defintion of the word: I wrote that only I exist, and nothing else, not even my clothes exist, I was imagining everything else and my clothes. An objective thinker or atheist can question this, the reality is I heard of solipsists and solipsist-wannabes in films and the internet, since I read about Rene Descarte solipsism seems to fit into my pre-solipsistic beliefs, I thought it was normal, vote now, good luck!

I'm not trying to communicate any disrespect, but if "people on the internet" have revived this philosophy, then they're probably just trying to make a social statement. A newly accepted idea that's only accepted now because it wasn't accepted 50 years ago. That's sort of how the social/philosophical circle of life works. Despite people's questionable motives to revive such an idea, it is very interesting to think about. Also interesting: Everybody you have come into contact with is only an extension of your subconscious. They only exist within your mind and are representative of your personality traits. Any reaction with other people is nothing more than a process of your personality being constructed or destructed. As you're reading this paragraph, a part of me is being imprinted into your subconscious mind. This very moment has the potential to manifest itself in within your personality. Reading this will subconsciously affect the way you think from this point on (maybe subtly, maybe drastically), but you will never know that because ironically, I'm communicating the process, and in turn limiting your ability to conceive the idea simply because your trying to understand an idea regarding the subconscious with your conscious mind. The only reason I have the ability to explain it is because I do not exist.

    • I finally got the people with their confidence in me, excellent. Solipsism is complicated to learn, but the learning of a philosophy as difficult as learning in school makes a good disciple. Au contrair my friend, I finally have a decent interaction. The people who believe in you are the real commenters, it's all possible. :)

I'll stop the bullshit, I got solipsistic with a Chinese lady (internet says I'm 100% Asian (for a white guy)), thus I told her at the internet coffee "my clothes don't exist", I didn't know what happened but it was in the broom closet (oh yeah!), and I was thinking "don't move a little bit, move a lot, heh heh I felt it so logically speaking it's real since I saw it, tasted it, felt it, heard it, and smelled it? (maybe I smelled a minty breath, and tongue kissed her, for there is no God, only I'm God).

I just got cute with an Asian chick, I invented the song Chinese lady and sang "I'm a Chinese lady/I'm a Chinese man", I was wondering why when I recently "acted normal" I liked her more than everyone else, being in denial I thought "I just like her as a customer, yeah right, she's my girlfriend!".

No, I think that's what happens when you literally over-think something. Like dappled said, the alternative is much more likely. The fact that I can reply to this post is almost proof that other things exist..

I've flirted with solipsism but, if you take any situation and analyse it from a solipsistic viewpoint, it generally seems less likely than the alternative.

Take what I'm doing, for instance. Replying to you. The solipsistic interpretation is that my brain has invented someone that doesn't exist, given them a viewpoint that considers I don't exist, had them express this (via the illusion I'm created) and then had me argue that it's unlikely.

A simpler (but also non-provable) philosophy is: things are real.

    • Considering you lie down in a spinning room, it stops spinning, a good spin is the time spent lying down, the devil knows you all too well, I am the undevil I cast imaginary thing out! Rock hard, Satan, but don't get too excited, you're supposed to be the servant of Satan. Beware the powers of the antidischrist: he will rule the world against the devil lovers, the goody goody Satanists win this time, ha ha haaar, but us atheists will annihilate infernal beings!

I used to believe in this strongly when I was a child, and only just found out that there's a term for it. I don't really think about this anymore, and it doesn't bother me either.

Very good, but I wasn't conscious, I was drunk on wine and said I was posh, yyeah, like I'm posh, I was dressed like a hobo drinking wine and asking some dude looking at us "what are you looking at?" since I could "do what I want and there are no moral rules" that means nothing is wrong with what I do with that Asian girl.
