Is it normal to be a sophomore in college and still homesick?

I am a sophomore in college and I really like my school; however, I am still pretty homesick. I am halfway across the country and don't get to see my family for months at a time. I am super close to my mom (she is my best friend) and I miss her a lot because she is the only person I can spill all my problems to without being judged. I do have good friends here and I enjoy myself, but at night I get really depressed because I miss home. I count down the days until I get on the plane to visit home.

You're fine, man. Nothing unusual about that. Be proud that you can still be this sentimental, and proud of your family for being able to earn this kind of attachment from you. Write and call as much as you can, then give them extra-long hugs when you get home. :)

Really? Freshman, sophomore, junior, senior- that's the order for high school and college where I'm from anyway.
