Is it normal to be addicted to commenting online?

I post comments very frequently on three sites everyday (NYTimes, Daily Mail and Reddit). I obsessively check up on my comments every few hours. I get a real kick out of getting a lot of thumb-ups (or downvotes if I purposefully write a controversial opinion) Sometimes I even refresh the website every 2 minutes so I can get to be the first commenter, and subsequently get lots of thumb-ups/downvotes. Is it normal?

No, I don't think that's normal. Unfortunately, it's become the norm nowadays :\ So, technically, you're 'normal' according to our technology-obsessed culture. I guess.

Am I the only one who thinks this isn't very normal?:S It sounds excessive to me, OP.

Well, you yourself said you "obsessively check up" on your comments, so if it's hardly surprising that you're giving off the impression that your behaviour is obsessive.

You just generally come across as acting like what you're doing is abnormal. You didn't just mention what you do, you chuck in words like "even", where they aren't necessary.

The comment you've made on this post does sound more reasonable, and unsurprisingly you use less emphatic language. Try not to go overboard with the way you write; all we have to base our answers on are your words, so if they're overboard, you're might end up seeming overboard.:)

You get psychologically stimulated by commenting...

I have no right to say whether it is excessive or not, but if you feel like it is interfering with your life then please do keep yourself in check.

Thanks for the replies guys. OP here.

I thought I was relatively normal, seeing as there were a lot of other regulars on the sites that I comment on. Apparently not. Is it really that weird? I mean, there a ton of other people who spend hours playing inane games but I like to post one or two comment every few hours that only takes 30seconds to write.

ps: There seems to be a misconception. I don't check up on my comments every 2 minutes - its every few hours (usually when I come home from school) I only check every 2 minutes for a total of 10 minutes when I know that a new article is due (often 10:15pm Australian time)

I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who does that. But you might be one of the few to admit it... XD

      That seems considerably more reasonable.

I usually spend a lot of time on the internet but even this sounds excessive to me.

Me also and in the real world, too. A lot of people would say I have too much to say. However I would never talk behind people's backs. If I have an issue with someone they get to know when I am not happy. People may not say very nice things about me when my time comes but I will never be remembered as two faced. xx
