Is it normal to be addicted to soda?

So I've come to the conclusion I'm ADDICTED to caffeine (soda, coffee is nasty) when I get stressed out or depressed I need a soda or else I get anxious and shaky. I try not to drink them as much as possible but when I resist I feel like I wanna cry. Is this normal?! /:

  • When I get stressed out or nervous I flatulate.

We all have our ways of dealing with it.

    Caffeine addiction is normal
(though not really healthy), especially in the fast-paced modern society, and is likely a part of your problem. However, depending on what soda type you drink, you may be addicted to the high sugar content which raises your blood sugar, giving your body more energy and a natural mood-lift. This would likely lead to symptoms similar to caffeine addiction (as both of these substances boost your energy, albeit through different mechanisms). Note that while diet soda does not list sugar as an ingredient, the manufacturer is using artificial chemicals that, at best, have a similar effect to sugar, but allow them to get away with labeling the product "sugar-free".
I would recommend that you try reaching for Gatorade, or sparkling (non-alcoholic) apple cider, instead of soda. These taste good, have vitamins, and won't dehydrate you the way caffeinated soda does. If that doesn't help right away, try to work in a bit of vigorous exercise and then drink Gatorade. Your body will want it more, for the rehydrating nutrients, giving you more "reward" for drinking it.
By substituting Gatorade, or fruit juice, or whatever, you can probably take the edge off your soda addiction; thus allowing you to give up the caffeine, or moderate your intake (depending on your desired path) more easily.
    I wish you luck.

Don't forget sugar addiction, is hardest to resist when under stress. I drink light soda though, and i'm addicted to is (to pepsi max specifically). Don't mean i will go into withdrawel or something. but when i havent had any for 2 days, water just doesnt seem to quench my thirst.

I don't like soda at all. Drink some tea, or a Viso. Vials are made and sold in Portland OR, and its pretty Damn healthy but with the equuvelant of 3 cups of coffee in it. It also has plenty of vitamins.

I'm the same, only I'm addicted to those mocha frapps in the glass bottles. I'll occasionally have a soda, but mochas are less sugary and fattening.

Definitly not healthy, just try to get rid of this habit (I know it can be hard)

It's an addiction to caffeine. It's like any other drug. You have to deny it slowly and in small doses before you can stop tyeh urges all together. (PS headaches usually occur during the deprecation of caffeine.)
