Is it normal to be afraid?

Ok.. so... a few months ago I met a guy on the internet...he's from a very conflictive country... so many wars and that stuff...and he's a soldier...and we talk everyday...

But last night I was stupid enough to ask him about the war... and he told me that he killed some people... and I got scared... and he tried to calm me down... but he just made it worse... telling me that he only killed the bad guys and a lot of creepy stuff.

The thing is.. I wasnt afraid of the fact that he killed a lot of people... I was afraid cause HE DOESNT MATTER!! is like hearing someone talking about killing ants or something!...

If you weren't desensitized to this situation you would probably commit suicide. Try to imagine being in that sort of situation? I'm sure his not caring is really just an excuse to himself to justify what he does and get by

I'd advise anyone who's afraid of their partner (for whatever reason) to get away from them.

He may or may not flip out, but she's obviously afraid that there may be that risk. I wish I'd learned years ago that you should only spend time with people who make you happy. Time spent arguing or worrying about trust issues etc with a partner is a waste of time with the wrong person - and life's too short.

          You're quite right.

She should trust her gut. If this man makes her uncomfortable than she should avoid him.

He a soldier and depending what country he's from, he could've been drafted.

I don't like soldiers or wars, but you can't stereotype all of them.... When you go to war, if your told to do something you HAVE to do it or they'll call you a traitor. Even if it's not the right thing to do... I'm sure he's still the same guy you knew, before you asked and if you never asked this fear would've never occurred to you in the first place.

I think it's okay to not care about the people you have to kill. If you cared about them, it would make killing them a little more difficult.
