Some people like butterflies because of their pretty wings, but I pay more attention to their faces. I'm just terrified, and I will avoid butterfly houses like the plague. I'm okay with cartoon butterflies where the face is just like any other (or non-existant). I'm especially afraid of monarch butterflies.
Also, is there any way to get over this?
Bugs are gross. Except for caterpillars :}. I love them but I hate butterflies as well as every other insect. Weird.
I'm exactly the same! They're lovely from a distance, when all you can see are their wings, but if they're within a metre of me I feel sick. It's 10x worse with moths, because they don't even have wings, they're just disgusting. They are one of the only things I fear, and which can make me feel sick.
My sister is afraid of butterflies as well. Shell run from them like it's an angry wasp.

You know I had to look up pictures of butterflies on the web to see their faces because you know what? I've never ever even thought about their face.
Strangely after thousands of butterflies I've seen, and had land on me. Including going into the butterfly sanctuary at the zoo, I've never seen their face? Now since going on Google and checking the pics there,
I've realized why. Butterfly faces are tiny, you'd have to get a magnifying glass to actually see them! And in flight I'd doubt you could.
I understand that some people have this of flapping wings, and the fluttery way of butterflies. But I've never heard of anyone concerned about their faces (of which is VERY difficult to see.
Here's how I'd say to get over it.
Picture butterflies without faces, since that's what they look like normally!
Weird, isn't it? I'm not keen on insects in general but I'd happily let butterflies, ladybirds or bees crawl on my skin but not moths, cockroaches or houseflies. Same with arachnids. Small spiders, no. A tarantula, yes.
The weird one isn't you, but me for making such an odd distinction. I don't think you need to get over it. It's normal.
Yeah, I have a kinda phobia of Bflies ever since I was 7 years old, now 15 years later, It's the same... Its cause I heard of a butterfly going in a girls mouth and it killed her... It was in the newspaper, forever I was scarred and scared.
