Is it normal to be afraid of chandeliers?

So one day i was having dinner with my aunt. We have a coffe table in front of me and above it is a chandelier on the ceiling. While my aunt is asking me a question, suddenly our chandelier fell down knocking our coffee table into pieces. The pieces went on my foot and food. I just stare at the broken pieces and my heart is beating fast. Whenever i saw chandeliers, Im scared that maybe it will suddenly fall... especially the crystal ones. Is it normal?

    Yes, that's normal
It's a common phobia: being afraid of high hanging objects.
Try to overcome your fear by being near more chandeliers, such as going to a crystal lighting store, or reading an article about how chandeliers are made and what keeps them from falling and tipping normally.
So whenever you are near a chandelier, tell your self than its Okey and the reason that your aunt's fell was because it's too loose, but this one it screwed on tight.
Be happy, don't let this fear overcome your life, and focus more on the things you like. :)

A little irrational but pretty easy to avoid

Yes! I have been terribly afraid of chandeliers from a very young age of about 5 years old. It has gotten better than it used to be, but I still cannot watch or see one fall. It really affects more than people think. Certain restaurants I have to avoid and other certain places, including my mother's bank. I cannot go inside her bank because they have a massive chandelier in their lobby. It's really the loud shattering noise and it hitting the ground that triggers me. It's so rare to find others with the same phobia. Take care!

You had a traumatic experience with one (which, frankly, you are VERY lucky you came out totally un-scathed), so yes it's normal you have that fear now.

Most phobias are a response to either a traumatic experience the individual had, or a genetic inheritance of survival tactics our ancestors had thousands of years ago in response to dangers.

Also who still has chandeliers in their house? omg
