Is it normal to be afraid of going outside?

I think that if I go outside someone will come after me. On several occasions I have been followed around. To the point where I am afraid of what might happen if someone were to get close to me. I genuinely fear getting to close to people physically and verbally for many years now. Is it normal to be scared of getting to close to people so much so that I am so petrified when walking down the street everyday?

I hate going out alone or walking my dog alone. I blame watching Unsolved Mysteries as a child. Just always be aware of your surroundings and purchase some pepper spray

It's not normal and you should get treatment. It will be the best thing you ever did.

I want to say you're paranoid. But honestly it's impossible for me to know if that's the case or if you are actually being stalked.
You should talk to someone who knows you well enough to know the difference.

Sounds like a truly miserable way to live.
The great thing is that with some help and treatment, you don't HAVE to live like that. Ain't that wonderful?
