Is it normal to be afraid of the sound of wood on metal?
My dad is a really scary, aggressive guy, and, when he would open the door to screech at or spank me for whatever I'd done when I was younger, he would always slam said door into my metal laundry basket. I still have that laundry basket near my door despite my fears(because I always throw my clothes in there when I'm finished changing so I don't have to move much to take them to the laundry), and, to this day, if someone opens the door and hits it, I will immediately get scared. When I get scared I get aggressive and defensive(i.e., yelling, shouting, complaining, etc.) and people will think something's wrong with me or someone's been ticking me off beforehand. Is it normal to have a fear of such a noise? This also doesn't apply to just my laundry basket; it also applies to doors clunking against a wood doorstop and other things similar to that.
