Is it normal to be ageist when you will grow old too?

I have thought about this all of my life and I seem to be the only one who has had it cross their mind. Why do people call other people old in a mean way? If you live long enough you will be old. Someone younger than you will call you a creepy old man or an ugly old bitch too! Why not end the cycle of this hurtful ageism while you are young so that you will not be mistreated by society when you grow older? Is it normal to think like this?

    You dont honestly believe you are the only one who has thought this do you? Anyway, I dont know what im going to do when I get to a certain old age I might kill myself I couldnt imagine myself being old and helpless.

      WHat i was aiming at with this question was why when you are young you bad mouth what is going to be your fate? Wouldn't it make more sense to say wonderful things about old people so when you are old you will benefit?

        Well the truth is at old age it is not much of a benefit but I get what you mean. Its mostly idiotic teens who say offensivbe things at old people to try seem cooler. I myself constantly think how pathetic its going to make me when im old but I never bad mouth old people because like you say I share the same fate, that is ofcourse if I die before old age hits.
