Is it normal to be an atheist???

My mother raised me to be a Christian...but I just can't believe in the bible no matter how much I try. It all seems like completely impossible jibberish...I'm so tired of my mom always talking about "God" and how "God" is working in my life. No, excuse me, I'M WORKING IN MY LIFE!!!! None of it makes sense and I am an atheist. There is no magical man up in the sky who sees everything we do and sends us to a fiery hell pit when we die. It's all man made. To top it all off, I live down south, in Florida...where people thump the bible constantly.

Unfortunately, it has become a more recognised idea - being an atheist today. However, being an atheist does not do anything else but destroy the whole concept of being alive in this world. This concept entails living with the belief in God and perfecting oneself all days of one's life.

Once you learn all there is about God and our existance you will realise how wrong it sounds when you say that God is man made. He is not man made. He is the one who created us and who helps us prosper. I would advise you to try and understand the Bible and God with patience. To do so, you need to open your heart to understanding them.

You are talking out of your butt. Please stop spreading ignorance.

FYI, I am one of the last people you'd EVER wish to debate. Seriously.

Actually, I am not talking at all. I am typing. Tsk tsk tsk...

This is not ignorance, it is the truth.

I could not care less about your debating skills.

Being an Atheist the the natural state of all humans at birth. People have religion forced upon them by their family. If they did not, they would all grow up to be Atheist adults.

Being non religious sucks considering the majority of people believe in a higher power. Even I am not completely non religious- I think the possibility of an afterlife is possible. I just don't believe in the christian God.

I was raised Catholic, went to a Catholic grade-school, Catholic high-school, and I could not get to a public college fast enough. My 12 years of Catholic schooling taught me one very important thing about religion. It is all a bunch of made up crap. People thousands of years ago had no idea what was going on, why were they here? What was their purpose? So they created "God" to give their lives a meaning. We now know that the universe is more than simply the Earth, and that it was not God who placed humans onto this planet, it was fission in stars to create the elements we know, and billions of years of evolution. I now consider science my "religion", because instead of it requiring complete blind faith in the man in the sky and his "son," it gives at least some rational explanations as to what we are and how we are here. 12 years and several hundred thousand dollars in tuition later, I could not be more firm in my stance as an atheist. Please just send your kids to public school.

It's not your spelling, it's your lack of punctuation. Everything sounds like one big sentence when you try to read it... it's called a run-on, and they are NOT fun to read.

You would get more respect, and better responses, if your text was easier to read. You may not think little things like these (,.!?_...:;""''/) make a difference, but they do.

I hate people who don't put punctuation in their sentences. My best friend does it and it kills me every single time.
