Is it normal to be annoyed when people bring their dogs everywhere?

I love dogs. I have a jack russel/beagle mix and he is awesome...but I really get irritated when people just bring their dog with them everywhere they go. I admit it is more frustrating when the dog is huge or poorly trained, but even a small and adorable dog is a rude thing to bring unannounced to someone else's house. I have a couple of friends that bring their dogs all over...one is a husky who is untrained and the other is a pit bull who is sweet but always filthy and infested with fleas. After bringing their dogs unannounced to my house several times, causing my own pets to go ape shit and bringing their nasty fleas into my house, I had to ask them to please not bring their dogs anymore and they got offended. They said I'm the only person who is bothered by it. How could someone be okay with someone bringing unruly, infested dogs to their house unannounced? If the dogs were well behaved and clean, and they ASKED first it would be different. Am I just crazy?

How I feel about this issue depends on how well trained and how clean the dog is. My sister's poodle is always sweet, polite and immaculately groomed. My Siamese cat and I can't get enough of this pooch cause he exudes awesomeness. This dog actually goes to family parties and works the room.

That's normal. I hope you checked your pets for fleas afterwards. My poor kitties got infested with fleas and we had to continue the anti-flea protection for years - as well as de-fleaing a number of rooms. It was a lot of work.

The people bringing those dogs into your house have no right to be offended. Fleas are a pain to deal with and they should take better care of their pets if they're not treating them.

Some people have no business being pet owners. We put frontline on our dog and cat after they left and never let them bring the dog again. fleas are disgusting.

  • For sure, bringing your dog into someone else's home is something that you get permission for before doing it. Your friends are out of line. Maybe they are upset because of the shame they don't want to feel--it's easier to make you the bad guy.

Quite honestly, the dogs you describe sound far preferable to some of the women I've brought home.

Well ok I could see if you maybe want to take dog/cats on vacation. If you have your own room or are going with your family but if another person does not give you permission to bring it in THERE house it seems pretty rude.

I also find it odd you would take it to another persons house. That is like saying "Hey I brought my tv". Id be like WTF?

Especially because some people might have animals that are not good with other peoples pets or certain type of animals. I mean what if someone has a cat and you bring over a pitbull. That or the reverse and bringing a cat to a house full of dogs.

    "NO DOGS
    NO RAPPERS
    NO ANNOYING PEOPLE
NO HUMANS (THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO PEOPLE THAT SELL COOKIES OR DONUTS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT)"-The sign outside my house

Normal thing man. One day I had to drive my mom and a friend of her's to the mall.
Normally, I wouldn't mind. I always help my mom.
But her lady friend came with her dog. An annoying little, barking mess! Now, I love dogs, but her dog... it's a pest! My grandmother had two dogs and I adored them. But my mom's friend's dog...
Constatly barks, poops everywhere, marks everything and smells like garbage (I think that dog has never gotten a bath)
And she wanted to take that bag of fleas in my car! I told her no! She got offended. My mom wanted me to appologize, but I will not! You can't just bring an animal just like that into someone's house, or car, or whatever! I told my mom that only she could get in my car. I drove my mom to the mall, but didn't take her friend. I don't care if that battleaxe rode her dog to the mall!

that doesn't mean they should be bringing their uninvited dogs all over with them.

But I don't feel like dogs are required to have an invitation.

It is just as rude as bringing an uninvited person. If you don't pay the rent or own the place you have no right to decide who/what requires an invitation.

I agree that they should ask before hand, and especially if it's indoors in your house. But if your meeting outside or doing recreational activities I think its okay.
