Is it normal to be disgusted at people worshipping celebrities?

I dont mean like finding them attractive. I mean like wearing t shirts with their face on it and plastering tons of posters on their wall. Then claiming theyre going to marry that person. Full out WORSHIPPING them.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having posters and t-shirts with someone you admire on.

Most people admire someone, although not always a celebrity. Why not let them express that? If I found a t-shirt with someone I love on, then I would be extremely amused (if only because you'd never find the people I admire on a t-shirt).

    Worship is too far, though.

you should make you're own t-shirt with a sharpie marker or some paint. you could even do one of a pet or someone that isn't famous, i think it'd be fun and flattering.

Yes and I say lets drive these cattle off the cliff with a picture of Justin beiber. All we can do. I do not consider this a crime as these people are obsessed and criminally insane most of the time anyhow. Do not let them murder us or our children as they surely aim to do.

I can partially understanding what you mean. For example, I dislike the fanatics at my school who worship Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. I'm not saying I'm not a fan of either of those books by they're hyperactive behavior annoys me. I'll admit that some of it is based on jealousy but for the most I dislike their cult like actions towards these things.

You should everyone who does is a bitch needs to be locked away and a danger to the community. I got smacked by my fangirl freind since I did not say I was also " In love with this star from Japan". I was a person they talk to everyday but still lose out to some idiot they never met? the fuck is with that! I was threatened by a crowd that loved justin bieber once they cussed me out and said they skin me since I said his music was just "ok". I do not mind fans by any mean but I do hate when people will blindly follow in name of a celeberty since he sang "I love you baby"and you hope the random attacks will make them love you. I mean these people are a hazard they are insane and need to be locked in a whiteroom so the rest of us do not have to worry about being sacrificed to thier celeberty god. I mean even having shrines of them in your room is fine but do not attack a innocint bistandard!

We used to look up to people who did stuff. Now we look up to people who pretend to do stuff.

I think there are just as many people spending just as much time being annoyed and disgusted by people worshipping celebrities as the people actually worshipping them. It's a little silly and sometimes annoying, sure, but try not to worry too much about it.

if you don't like what they have on their walls, don't visit their bedrooms?

    Hiya,

I don't think there's anything wrong with it either. I am disabled (on the more severe end of the spectrum) It probably looks like I don't have a lot in my life.

A lot of my older male relatives think certain musicians are brilliant, and I grew up to love them all too. I'd sit listening, fascinated. When I’m in pain they've cheered me up, when I've seen them live they've brought me to tears, and I doubt there's anything they can't do. I take that back, there is one thing – that is “disappoint me”.

It bothers me a bit too how much people hold celebrities in such a high lite. But I don't think it is unhealthy either. It is not hurting anyone so for me it's more of a.......meh........

i think it's whack. i don't like the idea of putting a stranger who probably wouldn't give a shit about you, putting them above people that you actually know who love you in real life. and i hate the idea of autographs, just everything about them. there are probably about 4 musicians who i feel like i know and identify with, and they helped me through my addiction and depression. but i know they are humans and don't fantasize about them. maybe i'm just as bad as people that read celebrity magazines and watch television, i don't know.

I agree. I have had celebrity and fictional crushes before but I know how to be realistic. Like I don't ignore guys I have a chance with just for that reason. And worship is going too far; there is only one higher power and that's God (no offense to anyone with different beliefs). This guy I had a thing for over a year ago said some famous chik was going to be his wife. I don't still like him in that way, I've sorta found someone else, but I'm just saying it was kinda sickening and I don't want that situation to repeat in the future. Not only is she untalented but she's not even nice as a person. Hope her career bombs. :)

    I should become a celebrity...

...then I can turn my fans into a crew of personal servants for minimal pay!

I only think it's normal that you're annoyed by those people who are completely obsessed my someone useless like Paris Hilton ad Kim Kardashian, who are known for being useless. When I hear people saying that they're their role models I honestly think: what the hell is wrong with you? Go and reevaluate your life. But I think it's ok if people admire musicians. I honestly know people whose lifes were saved by music, because people can relate to lyrics.

      Hiya,

So do I. If the celebrity is sensible and you hang on their every word, it can make you more sensible yourself; friendships can be deeper because you've actually got something in common –- I've never met a fan of favourites of mine I didn't like. It can make you listen to music you wouldn't touch before.

How on Earth can it be putting celebrities over people who you love and who love you if your loved ones got you into them?

I agree with you. I think it's normal. Especially when the celebrities don't really do anything, and therefore don't deserve their fame! People can take their obsession a bit too far...

Ok, I honestly think your doing this for attention. "Disgusted"? Woww, why does it matter that much to you what other people do? If it makes them happy get the hell over it. It's normal to be annoyed but don't go overboard and say disgusted, because thats just weird.

Gerald Way is pretty awesome. Although I haven't heard an MCR song in forever. Aside from being married, I wonder what he's up to and when his band is going to make a comeback.

Yes I just don't try to pay attention. Celebrities mean nothing to me unless they have done good besides movies. Even then I really don't pay attention.

I find it very useless when people worship celebrities, but I tend to stay out of other peoples business, so as not to get annoyed.

I will say though, I don't worship her by any means, but I still think Emma Watson is the most beautiful woman alive!

  • Yeah, it's a bit stupid. I appreciate famous bodybuilders because looking up to people who worked really hard to get where they are really motivates me in my training. But actually *worshipping*? nah, we're all just people.

A lot of the people I knew who constantly obsessed over a celebrity either didn't have much going on on their lives or had problems. Each person either grew out of it or moved on to another celebrity obcession.

I just find it very useless when people worship celebrities, or even worry about them. I mean, honestly, who gives a shit? They don't even know you exist, you're not related to them, if you die they'll normally keep on living, and they're human beings just like the rest of us.
