Is it normal to be easily distracted?

I have trouble focusing on things and am trying to figure out if this is something normal for everyone or if I might have minor ADD.

I am working on a Master's Degree and have a lot of trouble with homework. I procrastinate heavily and I can work on the same thing for hours and only get a little bit done because I am constantly distracted.

I also have trouble paying attention to people when they are talking, or I often want to finish their sentences for them.

I will start numerous books and never finish them even though I enjoy reading them.

I have trouble paying attention to movies, in class, in work meeting, etc.

I have always assumed that I just need to discipline myself better, and I still think that might be the case, but it struck me today that maybe these are not problems that everyone has.

You're working on a Masters degree? If you do have ADD, you have been very successful. :-) Maybe you do have it, but it seems you can handle life. I think everyone has quirks, myself.

  • I wouldnt say everybody has those problems, but they are common. Often I will watch an entire movie and not even be able to recall what I just watched afterwards.
