Is it normal to be frustrated by the world around me?

For thousands of years man has lived with the idea that we could fight a holly crusade in the name of varying religions knowing that we were part of some grand plan part of a world we could barely understand knowing that we are blessed creatures to be alive and conscious while all around us are the beasts and plants that don't know what it is to feel. All over this wonderful planet of ours are the artifacts and monuments of the great human civilizations that have risen and fallen, the evidence of human ambition and achievement like the great pyramids, or great wall of china or the dikes of Holland turning what should be the seafloor into a fertile green paradise for humans to live in. All these things accomplished be people hundreds and thousands of years ago people who were far less numerous than we are today people who didn't have all the modern technology and equipment we have at our disposal.

I don't personally believe in god the way others tell it I have my own ideas and beliefs and they're good enough for me, but my question is why have we let doubt and fear creep so deeply into our society, and I'm not talking one country or the other I'm talking the global society, why have we let ourselves degrade to the point where our only concern is our own immediate pleasure. I know it isn't everyone but a good majority of the population of this planet has no momentum, we've hit a plateau and we need to start climbing again or pretty soon we're going to forget how.

I'm right there with you. Unfortunatley theres not much we can do but initiate our ownlives into what we want them to be. As Gandhi said "be the change you wish to see."

Humans only progress when we're desperate. Like a phoenix from ashes. The Dutch only built the dikes so they would drown. The Chinise built the wall to keep the Mongols out of China. We only have most of todays technology because of the two World Wars, when we got computers, jets, and so many other things.
You can see this in Chimps now...they only hunt when they're hungry, and only kill each other when the Alpha-Male becomes too powerful (etc).
    We're just crazy apes.

I totally agree....I've noticed that all problems on this earth are caused by humans, and the problems get bigger and bigger as we go on. And about the holy crusade thing, I've noticed that a lot of things people do in the name of God are horrible, brutal things I would think would make God furious at them. And there are good people trying to fix the problems that other people cause, but it seems like evil always triumphs over good. But I don't have the power to "change the world" and people who truely have the power and courage to do so only change it for a few years, then a bunch of ignorant, brutal, self-absorbed people change the world in a bad way forever. I'm kinda thinking about suicide because of where the world's headed, but I know that doing that would just be cowardly and I should be trying to help the world not just simply take myslef out of it. But like I said....I don't have the power to change the world.

    Sorry about the long response.

I am so with you. I try to make a difference by doing random acts of kindness, but you know what, alot of people don't care. I thought of giving up, but if I help one person who truly appreciates it, I will continue.

Mother earth I love her. Sadly people on earth are way too much living with their head in someone`s asshole, usually their own.
