Is it normal to be held back 2yrs in school?

I was held back for 2yrs at the beginning of high school due to mental health reasons. (I only attended a partial school year my freshman year, wasn't enrolled in a school for the entire next school year, and then was sent back to 9th grade the next year). Now I'm scheduled to graduate next year, even though I was supposed to graduate last year.
I feel really embarrassed about it and inferior to everyone around me because of it.
Is it normal to even be held back in school?

    It seems like a big deal cause you are still in school but once highschool finishes everyone goes their seperate ways. Don't feel embarrassed or inferior. Everyone is focused on themselves most of the time. Just hang in there.

    Dude I was constantly in detention and getting yelled at for misbehaving in class, took like 4 months for me to find out that my quietly reading in class after turning in my assignment was the cause of it. 4 bloody months of getting yelled at asking what I did wrong and getting yelled at more for talking back. And I always talk respectively to people unless they pissed me off but that never happened there. Anyways that's why I have a ged now, I'm not embarrassed by it. Hell this is no joke my teachers tried talking my mom into getting me sent to one of those camps for naughty children. For reading a freaking book in class! No the teacher wasn't talking no I wasn't be led up on assignments yes everything was turned on and yes they were age appropriate books but of a higher reading skill most of the time. The school system is just fucked I'm telling ya. So moral of the story don't be embarased by schools fuckery. I know it's hard like I'll watch that show trailer park boys and Ricky is like I never got my grade ten and I'm over here like I don't even have my grade 9. It's fucking awful and embarasing I know but don't let it get to you. Some schools will fuck you around so hard. My schools dud. Well the one in tioga I did pretty good in but in grand forks na they hated me and I don't even know why. My science teacher had extra credit assignments one was he wanted a certain quarter and was willing to give a decent chunk of points for it. Well I happened to have one in my pocket clean good shape everything went to give it to him the very sane hour he announced it. He refused to take it. I needed the points bad 2, that guy was failing me no matter what. It was such b.s I wasn't his best student science class has always been a week link for me, well once it comes to tests, the rest I actually really enjoyed. Just tests fuck me over. But that guy had it out for me. Anyways the school system can seriously fuck you over try not to worry about it to much
