Is it normal to be like this at 19

Im 19 and i feel im not as mature as i should. The way i see it, i should be making use of myself, getting a job, or getting a license to drive. That i should know what i want to be in life. To be around girls and socialize, or act like a mature young man. Instead i act like a child most of the time, playing video games all day, being afraid all the time or saying random gibberish thats weird at times and whatnot. Dont get me wrong, the relationship with me is a love hate thing, but just to get things straight more or less,

is this normal? At 19?

Try to do one thing that's productive a day...It makes me feel a little better when I actually accomplish something so I feel as if the day wasn't wasted. I'd say start with getting your license.

It's understandable. I'm slightly younger than you and I still haven't had a job or gotten my drivers license... In fact, I don't really leave my house unless necessary... I have a hard time dealing with people and I'm terrified of the world around me.

I don't know if it's normal or not, but allot of people at sometime in their lives have been like this.

At 19? If you have the resources to get a license, go to college, etc. and your family isn't making you pay rent then switch places with me! I am 20 and I work full-time and go to school full-time, I have a car and pay my bills. I would love to not have to do so much. I left at 18 and found out that the real world is a bitch...

Try enrolling in community college, getting a license, getting at least a part time job...

I think knowing and thinking the real world is out to swallow me whole is whats keeping me distracted. I know my folks wont keep me here much longer, so its only a matter of time.

Yeah but the longer you avoid reality, the worse you make it for yourself. You don't want to be 22 with no adult experience, work experience and nothing in your savings account or on your resume. Its a sad thing that there are many people out there like that and that is one reason why many of them have such a hard time in the real world, because no one ever made them grow up and they didn't take the initiative to. The real world is like a bottle of whiskey. You take a shot here and a shot there and before you know it, the burn is gone, half the bottle is drained and you feel more confident about the world or more confused than you were before you started. Either way, for most if us the burn does wear off. Assuming you can hold your liquor.

          22 with no experiance....
          sounds like a failure. -_-
Thats the last thing i need, forget girls.

Either way i'll keep this in mind. Your whiskey way of describing this was neat btw :)

You do that. The years pass by quickly, ask anyone over the age of 30.

              Amen.

While I do envy being young and not having any responsibilities at all, the longer self sufficiency is held off from someone the harder the adjustment will be.

I would trade places with you in a heartbeat for the ability to do nothing all day, unfortunately I cant go back to that. If you dont start making some changes be prepared for the real world to hit you in the head with the force of a sledgehammer.

    1) Limit your use of video games.
    2) Go to the library.
    3) Find a book that you can learn from.
    4) Apply the knowledge to something practical.

Its up to you if you think you should get a job do it, If you want to be more social go for it. You only live once make it great every day, and take advantage as long as possible, but also go out there and apply yourself so that you can get a career and enjoy life when your older too instead of worrying about bills, my advice about women is date but stay single as long as possible, you'll regret it years in being tied down

I was like that too but Im 20 now and i got a job and go to school because my parents basically did it all for me lol... But I still play a lot of video games and watch cartoons n read comics, daydream and stuff like that. I just have everyone else tell me what to do so I'm not wasting my life because there is nothing I want to do like most other ppl my age. I think we're just different but I don't see it as a bad thing as long as u can enjoy life

Kick yourself out of your house, try to survive. It will benefit you in the long run.
