Is it normal, to be obsessed with suicide?

Since, I was in my early teens I've had a interest in death. When I was much younger the subject terrified me. I'm now in my late teens and I'm literally obsessed with the subject of suicide. I love to look up the history, people who committed it, methods, etc. I look up to some of these people, because I feel like they were brave to step into the unknown, but I also wonder exactly what made them do it. What were they feeling beforehand? I also wish I could write books on the subject, especially since it's so hard to find them.
I know that suicide causes allot of grief to the people around them, but I still can't help my interest. I used to be suicidal when I was much younger, but I'm not now, so please don't be alarmed. Is it normal to be obsessed with suicide?

The people who take there own lives are very ill, and its often the small things that can be the last staw in there lives . They're not brave, just helpless. They are now all in a dreamles sleep that lasts forever. very sad subject, and one that should be left alone. There is nothing intersting about someone else's sadness

It's certainly interesting. Nothing wrong with being intrigued by a social phenomenon.

You should probably see a doctor/psychiatrist. As fascinating is the subject can be, you shouldn't be obsessing over it. Committing suicide would be terrible.

I'm currently not seeing one. I'm suppose to get a new one soon, but I don't plan to tell her about it. I made the mistake once and the results were nearly disastrous... Even if I wanted to do it, as I have many times before, I wouldn't be able to. I always chicken out at the end.

Suicide is actually a very interesting phenomena. From the psychological point of view to know what exactly going on in the mind of a person who commits suicide. In most places in the world a man is between 4 and 6 times most likely to commit suicide then a woman, yet unsuccessful suicide attempts are much higher among women than men, which leaves the question, how to distinguish between a cry for help, seeking attention, and genuinely wanting to die.

it's an extremely fascinating subject! I'm into anything "suicide" as well, although don't see any reasons to kill myself yet.

    not sure we're normal, though.

  • I'd rather kill someone other than myself. Suicide is so dumb, your're pointing the knife the wrong way.

I've never heard of anyone who liked to look up things about suicide. But as long as you're not acting upon it, I guess it's alright.
