Is it normal to be offended by the sound of my roommate getting it on?

I'm super uncomfortable right now...

My roommate has a live-in boyfriend who pays nothing and stays here and watches tv all day while we are away at work. He is always with her--never have I seen her without him. Not really a fan of the situation, but it'll be over in 6 months and I can't see a way to approach it without causing a rift between us which would make it even worse.

We all ate a nice dinner together this evening. Promptly after dinner the 2 escaped into her room. I didn't hear much for awhile until just now--they are in the shower together, which is next to my room. I heard slamming and screaming. All the lights are on, my door is wide open--they have to know I'm still awake. It's before bedtime, anyway.

To me, it's real offensive that they can't be more discreet. They act like it's their own home. Especially with him living here rent-free and being a lazy deadbeat. He is here more often than we are. Not to mention they never bother to clean. I feel like a nobody and a nothing. Like they just do not care about my comfort or lack thereof.

Or do they just not think the sound of them banging loudly could possibly affect me? Please enlighten me. Is it normal?

No, they're being inconsiderate. You could say to them, wow that horror movie you guys were watching last must of been real scary. All I could hear was you screaming.

    It's a sensitive subject.

    1) he should NOT be allowed to live there rent-free, that is an issue.

    2) They like to have sex, great but what you can do is to ask them if they can't just TELL you that they are planning to have vicious sex that evening so you can make the choice to be somewhere else.
To me, quiet sex is ... urrgh, it ruins so much of it.
You can also use headphones and plug in music when they get it on.

And also, yeah you DO certainly have the right to be offended if you don't want to listen to the sound of others fucking, that is your right as well.

    Then again ... if it's your room-mate that's a screamer, buy her a ball-gag for Christmas.

Yes they're being totally inconsiderate. You could say nothing or perhaps get even. Next time you hear them screaming, grab the phone, knock on the door and say "sorry to interrupt but your mom is on the line"

Jealous=envious of someone else's success, wanting them to fail.

There's no word for what I feel. It's close to jealousy, but not exactly that. I want them to have lots of sex. I just don't want to hear it. Theyd be offended if I walked right in, so why should I have to hear it, if I'm not invited?

Hmm..this is a hard one. It's her home and she should so as she pleases. It's also your home, and you shouldn't feel uncomfortable in it.. I'd just say bring someone home and fuck them loudly. Balances it out.

Get over it. People fuck. If you don't like it, that is your problem to deal with. Why should they be discreet, they are at home. If you can't fuck at home, then where?

you can fuck at home, but you can do it quietly. I know they fuck but i don't want to HEAR it! How is that any different than doing it in front of me?
They should do it in their room, not in the bathroom. Not right next to my room. There are plenty of hours when I'm not home, anyway.
People don't have to care but it's nice if they do. And it sure is normal to want them to.

In my house I fuck when and where I want. If you can't cope, leave. Im not going to deprive myself of pleasure because my roommate is uncomfortable with me making noises. Or ask them to stop if you can bring your prudish self to bring it up. Some people dont have a problem with hearing people have sex.
