Is it normal to be overly addicted to sleeping pills?

So it's been over a year now and I've taken over 1000 50 mg of sleeping pills. It's an extremely addicting and expensive habit. If someone were to tell me about this before I'd think they were crazy but now, not so much...
I started out being addicted to Xanax throughout my high school years
But even then, my addiction wasn't out of hand.
I had been working two jobs and would be tired when I get home, but couldn't sleep
I used as directed for a while but then I started taking more
When I would wake up for work I started realizing that it resembled close to Xanax
I started taking them before work and before school
At first I didn't know my limit. I was excited to find something that felt so good and was easy to get a hold of.
I would take six to eight pills when I would wake up and then I started limiting and testing different amounts for different places.
They take about an hour to kick in and last about three to four hours so when the feeling would start to leave I would take some more
I don't think I have built a tolerance tho. I take four pills everytime throughout the day, sometimes five
There's not a large amount of research done on the pills
I have experienced 37/45 known overdose side effects
Cancer runs in my family and these May or May Not cause cancer
I cannot stop at all, I've tried and couldn't sleep while having the worst pain throughout my entire body

Its not like crazy omg your a freak not normal, but it deffinitely is bad for you. I am an addict have been for almost 10 years. Im 22 now ive been clean for almost one year. I was a crack and heroine IV user the whole time. And i also was dependant on seroquil and xanax. And klonopins. Sleeping pills are extremely risky Love.. Even if u take the same ampunt everyday your body could at a moment decide its just a little to much and maybe you dont wake up. If i was you.. I would check yourself into a detox. And just so you know in most states it is illegal to turn away a person who is dependant on benzodiazepines because you can die during withdrawl. Please go to detox.. They will help you. If u ever need to talk about your addiction or hoe to stpp or get help id love to talk. Good luck

You have what they call Sleeping Beauty Syndrome. It's where you secretly yearn to sleep for a 100 years until your prince kisses you awake.
The reality is that you will only sleep for 3 days at most and uncle Paulie will be busy rubbing the tip of his penis over your mouth as you are waking up.

In saying "I cannot stop at all" you know you need help to quit. Now sounds like the time to get it.

They're called benzos. And they are rather addictive. I would say you've definitely built a tolerance.

Good on you for wanting to stop but you can't do this alone. You need to talk to your doctor and be honest about the amount of medication you're using and have yourself referred somewhere for detox and rehab.
