Is it normal to be really scared after moving to a bigger city?

I just moved to St. Louis and I am terrified. I'm from a small town and I dont know anyone here. Is it normal to feel this much anxiety? I dont know the streets or the people, the good or bad parts of town...I feel like a big tourist! How long does it take for this feeling to go away?

  • Yes, it is not natural or healthy to live in such environments.

Don't worry about it. I was also like you about a year ago, I moved from a place where everything was near and it wasn't as big as the place where I am now. what I did was use google earth, I used it to find how to get to places. I'm still homesick but I'm not as worried as I first was.:) don't worry bout it though, you'll be fine.

Slowly extend your knowledge of the area in which you live or work, don't try to know the whole city too quickly. You will adjust much more quickly than you expect - probably 6 wks to 3 months.

    You'll be fine!

You'll get used to eat. Map out directions to different places and once you learn a few routes you'll feel a lot better. Everyone feels anxiety about the unknown. :)

Yeah, just get used to eat, and then eventually eat will become really easy. Eat's nothing to worry about!
