Is it normal to be really shy when you're new to college?

I'm a transfer student to a state school and it's been hard for me to make real friends. I got here the spring semester, so I missed out on making friends at the beginning of the year, so people already have their social circles established. I consider myself a really shy kid, so it's definitely intimidating to suddenly act really outgoing to people. I've joined a couple clubs and made some good acquaintances through them and people in my dorms, but I've yet to really "fit" with other people that I can call friends. I know it takes time, but I'm worried that I'll stay shy and miss out on really getting to know some cool people. So is it normal to feel worried about staying shy my whole college experience?

I think it is very normal and kinda sad that this stuff happens to many people. But, you will always find a few awesome people who branch off to different clicks and get to know you and then become good friends. But, you got to make some efforts like the ones you described.
