Is it normal to be scared of cars driving past at night?

I have no reason for this fear. But ever since I was a kid (and still to this day, depending on where I sleep) and I and got a house next to an active car road: At night when the light is of I for some reason feel terrified that a car is gonna drive past me before I have gotten into bed and under the duvet, and may even feel panicking right after I get under. Something always felt unsettling about the lights moving on the wall. But I am actually not afraid of darkness in just about any other context (that isn't genuinely dangerous)

I live in a development and cars are always going up and down my street; not the neighbors cars either. It’s sometimes a little extreme for such a quiet neighborhood. The strolling cars definitely look sketchy. Sometimes they even park in front of peoples driveways and sit there. There are times I’ve had to call police to move them along. It gets worse during holidays like Xmas when people are giving and “burglars” know there are valuables in peoples homes and even front steps/ mailboxes. This is why I’m glad I have a firearm permit. If anyone wants to swing by and come through the door, I’ll be ready to take out some kneecaps lol

When I was a young adult I lived in the ghetto. It was a terrible area but I thought I was a huge tough guy so i thought it was a good idea for me to go jogging at 12am through these neighborhoods (im the only white guy around). Id always get creeped out when car lights was comin. One time I was on this side road and a car was coming from behind me it was only going like 30mph. I couldnt see in the car but as soon as it passed they slammed on their brakes and right away I smelt weed. Then I heard some black dude say "HEY MAN!! COME HERE MAN!!!" and I fuckin bolted through some yards. It doesnt sound like much but it was sketchy. They acted DESPERATE to get me near them. And it seems when they were able to get the view of my face and see I was white thats when they slammed on thr brakes. I think they saw me as the perfect victim that night. I dont jog at night anymore after this kind of shit happened a few times.

Its even creepier when you live out in the country and there shouldnt even be anyone driving towards you at night.

The vibe I got wasnt that by the way they slammed on their brakes and yelled. It came off like they were gonna do something fucked up.

Well, it's a good thing you didn't go up to the car.

I don't know why you're concerned about passing cars. The cars you need to worry about are the ones that creep very slowly and almost silently up to the front of your house with their lights off, come to a halt and then just sit there, with the only thing you're occasionally able to see inside the car being the gleam of a pair of eyes staring at your bedroom window when they're illuminated by the headlights of oncoming cars.

Hahahaha! This is the type of shit you do when someone owes you money and they are not paying. So you mess with them a bit, get that fear and paranoia going.

No they don't. Some do, and that's only ones that aren't normal.

I used to live in a house that was kind of on the corner of a street, and the living room window was right in view of it. I remember falling asleep on the couch one night and having a very vivid, realistic dream that I was napping on the couch while a car drove through that window. I awoke relieved that it hadn't happened, but freaked out at how realistic it was! Every once in awhile, someone would speed around that corner and I always thought about the possibility of them losing control and crashing through that window.

Now, my front yard is basically uphill, so you'd have to pretty much try to drive into my living room. 🤣

I used to feel a little freaked out by the moving lights you speak of when I was younger, too. Like you said, they have a slightly unsettling quality to them. Now, my bedroom faces the back of the house where there is no street, so I don't see them anymore.
