Is it normal to be scared of depths?

Is it normal to be scared of the depth of the sea? It scares me because its so dark and you cant see anything thats underneath you, it seems endlessly deep, imagine if you get lost there :s is this normal?

ive always had a fear of deep water, its terrifying to me. im even scared of deep swimming pools like anywhere over say 10-12 ft, regardless if i can see the bottom or not, i know how you feel.

Yep. Big bodies of water of any sort -- tall waves, deep oceans, broad rivers, even really large swimming pools like that one in Chile -- creep me out to some degree. Maybe I read too much H. P. Lovecraft as a child, but I always expect Cthulhu to whip out a tentacle and reel me down.

Deep water is a definite Nope.

The Mariana Trench gives me shivers just seeing it on a map.
