Is it normal to be scared of mentally disabled people?

So when I was in middle school this guy with Down syndrome would follow me places. He was not very nice to anyone and would kick and scream randomly. I feel bad but I was terrified of him and would always avoid him. Is it normal to be scared of mentally disabled people?

Whenever he reads from a teleprompter, he sounds like he has down syndrome...and he does have those kind of eyes.

That is a scary photo when you consider that that man could be in charge of the nuclear big red button.

  • I workbwith mentally disabled people, some of which are very violent, some that are complete towers and violent. Hell, one of the people I have to work with is a towering schizophrenic with violent tendencies who beat the crap out of someone with a hammer in his past but he's mostly a good guy, you just have to be good with your approach.

No need to be afraid of these people fully. Ofcourse you have to be cautious but from my experience most are good people plagued with issues that cause them to act in ways they can't fully control.

Are you sure it was Downs ? They are not usually the yelling and screaming type , thats more like Pervasive Developmental Disorder which they now call Autism Spectrum Disorder?

My uncle talks ti himself, and if that doesn't make matters worse' he pretends he's god and pats random strangers on the head and blesses them.
