Is it normal to be scared of sending emails

I don't really have a problem writing emails (or letters but who does that nowadays anyway) but sending them really creeps me out. I'm so scared that I could by accident have typed something inappropriate or stupid that it takes me hours to send an email after I've finished it. I check it hundreds of times and even after I've sent it I continue checking so that I can make sure I didn't send it to the wrong person or wrote something stupid. It makes me feel so anxious I try to avoid it whenever I can, even if I actually have to send them. Is this normal?

...that moment when you check your attachments to ensure you haven't accidentally somehow attached the porn you were viewing prior to writing it.

    • The problem is that I don't even have 'inappropriate' stuff on my pc

        Sure.
I just had to say it though.

I double check everything. Spell check, proofread, check recipients, check attachments, check account (from).

At least twice have I sent an e-mail stating "please see the attached files" and forgotten to attach them.
I learned from that mistake, so I always check everything now.

        • Sure. I have to admit it was funny though :)

I guess it's normal to double check, but is it normal for this to take hours? It took me 6 hours today to hit the send button for one single email :/

No. That's the first time I've ever heard of that.
Some people with their smart-phones nowadays even send e-mails as short and full of errors as SMS texts often are.

You just need to lighten up a little bit! Proofread once or twice and spell check. Anything small enough to be missed with that inspection is probably minuscule anyways!

I have to send thousands of emails for work. Sometimes all at once. Hitting that send button can be very difficult. Thank god for a good copy editor.

It's not normal but I understand.
It sounds as if you are over-analyzing what you are saying, most people don't read e-mails with the intent of pointing out every little mistake and being offended by every little thing that they read. If you are dealing with people that do, then I suggest, if you can, find a new set of people because someone like that obviously has more problems than receiving your e-mail.
