Is it normal to be scared to take my anti-depressants?

I suddenly stopped taking my anti-depressants, and I feel like I think better without them. I feel like they make me think things are okay when they're not and make me make poor decisions and not take things as seriously. Is this normal? How should I think? Is it normal to be scared to take them?

If you're under 18 do what your doctor says. None of us can give you medical advice. BUT I'll say this. Before your parents someone like yourself would do the following. 1) mix clay and mud and form bricks, 2) make a fire and turn them into bricks, 3) did a hole 15 feet deep, 4) line it with bricks, 5) hang a bucket or install a pump, 6) Milk a cow, 7) churn that into butter each day, 8) gather eggs from the henhouse 9) find one of your livestock you wanted to have for dinner OR eat meat that's just laying in the barn covered in salt, yes that's actually normal. Think about it. Do you really need meds for the Xbox, Iphone world we're living in? Do we need meds to wake up and go out and deal with everyone's bullchit? You want to get where you can't take meds? start thinking of all the things you could do with every single second of your life. OR take meds that slow you down and watch one day turn into the next.

Yes this is normal. 1. It can take longer than a month for some people to see a full effect from their medications. Remember its a chemical imbalance in your brain so its trying to regulate those chemicals.

    2. medications effect everyone differently. Medications used to treat mental disorders have a lot of side effects so its important to try a different one if this one isn't working for you. That's why you go and talk to your psychiatrist.

I know lexapro made me very paranoid and had to stop taking that one. Zoloft made me very talkative and would get muscle twitches
