Is it normal to be slightly terrified of babies?

So I've never been one of those girls that thought babies were cute. I never liked them, but I started to realize that the make me feel very uneasy, and uncomfortable, especially when they stare at you. They give me the creeps. Maybe it's like an uncanny valley type of effect. Just everything about them seems wrong and genuinely horrifying to me. The noises they make, the way they move, and those creepy fucking eyes always staring at you. It's like when you see something really unnerving just because something about it is off or not right. Does anyone else feel that way?

Still creeps me out though, but then again I don't like when anyone looks at me. It just makes me uncomfortable. I guess it's just worse with babies because they are studying me.

    • I can really relate to being uncomfortable under someone's gaze or scrutiny.

However, I with babies I just think, "It's just a curious baby that probably has not developed to the point of being judgemental. I need to get over myself."

I can't stand babies. They're loud, annoying, and useless. They're not cute or anything, if anything the sight of them makes me angry.

    • It's always strikes me as so ignorant when people complain about babies like this, like they weren't one themselves.

Babies and children are works in progress; their uselessness is excusable.

What's loud and annoying to you serves as important messages between child and caretaker(s).

Of course, I'm sure you know all that shit already, just ripping into you on my free time.

I am not a caretaker of a child, and so the noise is just unwelcome and annoying. It's not my fault these people chose to have babies. But parents walk around like entitled assholes expecting the whole world to pad its corners and just tolerate the noise of their spoiled brats. Kids should be left at home.

Also I agree. For me I don't blame the babies at all. I mean yeah, it's annoying to me, but I agree babies should be left at home in most cases, but I realize that's not always an option. And yes I realize them crying is trying to communicate something. So address the problem, comfort your baby, feed them and change them. Don't just expect everyone around you to tolerate your unhappy baby. I forgive the baby for being a baby, but I don't forgive the parents. Just because you want to ignore your baby, doesn't mean everyone else should be forced to ignore it.

All I know is I was an extremely quite and clam baby. Like my mom actually thought that something was wrong with me. I never cried, or did normal baby stuff. The most I did was make a funny face if I needed a diper change.

I realize everyone was a baby once, but even as a baby, I didn't act like a baby lol

I never understand people that are like this. I have kids but even before kids I never disliked babies or thought they were scary. Babies are defenseless so they can’t hurt you. Their only way of communication is crying which may annoy people but it’s also frustrating to the baby as well especially when the reason why they are crying is not addressed. And so what if they stare? I noticed that babies and toddlers stare at people that they like and/or find interesting.

Well I never said it was a rational reaction lol. But a lot of things creep me out.

Honestly, I understand OP, but I'm faily sure my fear stems from abuse as a kid. I try my best to try and hide it around kids just because I know it's unkind and rude to be unfriendly towards babies and younger kids, but after a few of my friends had kids I couldn't be around them because of my fear.

Yes, this is referred to as pedophobia. It is actually treatable, however such treatment is probably unnecessary. I'd recommend looking it up.
