Is it normal to be smarter than your parents around technology?

I think this is normal, but also weird at the same time! When my parents come across technology, (preferably Apple) my parents become clueless in what to do and ask me for help! Even my sister needs help with this. So, is it normal to be smarter than your family when it comes to technological difficulties, ect.?

  • Technology is constantly changing and advancing - just look at how much it has changed in the past 20 years; the internet didn't even really exist back then.

Unless your parents have had specific training or exposure through their careers to new technologies, the chances are they wouldn't be experts with it. Plus, they are probably too busy working to pay the bills and raising children to worry about what the latest advancements at Apple are.

So logically, YES, it's normal that a child with lavish amounts of free time and education would have more knowledge about the newest technology.

Yea, it's normal. I'm the same way, actually. Some people are just more adept at technology than others, the same way there are some people better at sports or cooking or writing or etc. I personally find it fun to help and teach people how to use technology.
