The best thing you can do is let the dentist know how anxious you are. He will put you under nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and it will calm you down. It's really harmful to ignore a tooth abscess. It will affect your alveolar bone, adjacent teeth, and can even go to your brain. See a dentist ASAP.
I've been raped so I know how to deal with that, never had a man put a sharp object into my gum, don't know how to deal with that
Thanks to those who gave their horror stories. It's the needle, it petrifies me so much. I'm scared of the saliva build up and being unable to swallow with my mouth open!
I'm also scared of having a panic attack!
i have 2 wisdom teeth, and i am terrified of going to the dentist, and from needle and Gas...that's pretty messed up!..welcome pain.
Go more often and avoid letting things get to the point where they cause pain! Early prevention.....
Nobody died from an appointment with their dentist. You'll be fine. If you have to get a cavity filled or something like that, they numb it. Don't worry.
True but many accidents have happened. A few years ago, a dentist droped one of those sharp tools they use to scratch off the junk out of your teeth. I'm sure that was not a pleasant dentist visit.
I used to be like you when I was a kid but now I don't mind it. It certainly doesn't hurt and they help you have better teeth.
The dentists now have a gas that calms you down if you tell him you are scared, they use it on children. Our dentist told me that his mate came down pretending to have a toothache just for the gas!
It's a common fear from childhood but that profession has progressed a lot since then!
Don't worry!
If you're still scared, grab the dentist by the balls and say, "We won't hurt each other, will we?"
I hate it too - just had a root canal and a wisdom tooth extraction and was shaking from fear. Just tell your dentist you are afraid and they should try calm you down: my dentist has amazing assistants who talk through whilst he's working to try keep you calm etc. Even though I know he won't hurt me I can't help but be scared. It's a totally irrational fear and you could be potentially making the sore tooth worse by no lt seeing the dentist.
I hate how my saliva builds up and sprays and my mouth tires and all that other dental experiences. I used to be afraid too but now I think about how after I'm done I'll have sexy sparkling teeth so it's all worth it.
^^ ya. Did you watch a scary movie or have a parent that doesn't like them either or have a bad experience?
