Is it normal to be terrified of being stuck in one place?

Lots of times I hear people that say "Well, I'll be stuck here until I die" or "I just can't move away" or something like that. In books there are lots of families that "can't move and start a new life, they're too settled in" or they think because they're born a farmer they can never pick up a sword and wander off into the world... and honestly?

It terrifies me.

I can't imagine not having the freedom to get up and move, to travel the world. Being chained to one place would be the worst thing ever for me. If those chains came from my own mind it would be worse.

Am I normal? Does anyone else feel this way?

    .. did I write this while I was asleep? Surely someone else couldn't be in my head. Now I'm scared.. who are you!? What do you want from me!?

    With that said, we are identical in this way of thinking. I'm terrified of being 'settled down' against my will. I have no responsibilities now and I try my hardest to avoid them so I won't be obligated to stay where I am forever. Freedom is a very big part of my way of thinking and being. I guess I just feel like I'm much too young and haven't seen enough of the world to want to be in the position to not go out and do what I want.

        I've always thought this but I never made a story pertaining to it because I have always been told I'm crazy and immature for thinking like this so I didn't care to have IIN to tell me the same thing.

        Now I can sleep better at night knowing I am, indeed, not crazy or thinking unrealistically.

        Also from reading your profile, I see you want to be a counselor. This is also funny because I've wanted to be a therapist/counselor for some time now. I was majoring in psychology before I dropped out of college.

    Of course that is normal! You will make something of yourself, they will just be stuck in a rut all of their lives.
