Is it normal to be terrified of the toaster?

I have several mental illnesses including a severe anxiety disorder and ASD traits. I am very scared of a lot of things including loud noises, repetition, infinity, phone calls, etc. But one of the more bizarre (and disruptive to day-to-day life) fears is of the toaster. It's not because of the heat or the risk of electrocution, blah blah blah - it's the "pop" sound it makes and the fact that I don't know when exactly it will make the sound. The not knowing and the unexpected noise literally makes me jump and shout in fear when it pops. This is why I always leave the kitchen when I make toast and go back in a few minutes later. Is this normal? I mean, not necessarily for the average person, but for someone with severe anxiety?

It's not normal for other people , but for someone who is in your position, it does kinda make sense

Yes I agree with both the above posts. If you have severe anxiety then any sudden noise expected or not can be startling. I like the toaster oven idea. I have seen toasters that rise the toast up instead of popping it up. They are a little costlier than a normal toaster but may solve your problem.
