Is it normal to be this claustrophobic??

I have always been a little claustrophobic but lately it has cotton much worse. If I am walking in a crowded hallway or on a bus with someone I get very claustrophobic. Also when I'm under water which to me makes no sense because I'm out in the water alone. Why am I like this? Is it normal?

    Claustrophobia: fear of being closed in, not having an escape route, being trapped.

    Psychologist can help make a plan for you to overcome your fears, but they first must confirm if there is any cause for you developing this in your life.

    Some helpful info from the web:

    Take small steps towards conquering your claustrophobia.

    Learn relaxation techniques to help you manage your anxiety and fear.

    Think positively! Try being optimistic when facing your fear.

    Take steps to empower yourself in other areas of your life.

    Read as much as you can about your condition.

    I always thought that people who are claustrophobic were very odd because I could never make sense of it. But now I get that it's a justified fear. I'm completely the opposite though. I love to be in enclosed places. I get a sense of security and I feel really safe and comfortable. The closer the quarters the better, for me anyway. You probably think I'm crazy! Lol :}
