Is it normal to be too lazy to write?

I love writing - it's my favorite hobby, but sometimes I find it really annoying because my stories never seem to be good enough and I know exactly what they lack: interest from me.

I always seem to be rushing through everything and it's terribly hard to just describe the situations lived by the characters instead of trying to make everything I want to happen just happen already and be glad I got it over with.

Does anyone else have this problem? Advice, please?

I have a similar problem. I have a hard time coming into contact with the inspiration to continue my writings in the direction they want to go, and i never ever ever feel adequate about anything i write, no matter how much positive feedback i receive from other people. It seems like you are just really eager to see your ideas and creations come to life, and dont feel like trudging through all of the fillers

    Brainstorm.mindmap
Your mind jumps from idea to idea and you want to get it all down before you forget it. That may be why it is rushed.
if you first get it all down on paper on a mind map you have all the ideas down, then you organis it and expand on those ideas so you don't forget anything.after you have done that.
Start the story and make sure you plan it so what goes where etc
so when you start your first paragraph start with watever you like so it could be the introducing the main character or the scenery. Make sure you get everything you brainstormed about down in that paragraph, if theres anything you missed out make sure you keep a note of it so you can mention it later. Okai that the first paragraph done. But do not move on and start the next part till you are happy with the first part. This will take alot of will power but im sure you capable of that.
    Same for paragraph two etc.
The hardest thing to this method is making it all flow and relate. But im sure your a talented writer and this will be easy for you.

    • Oh, God, no, I can't start anything by the beginning! Haha, I might that, though.

I can not tell you how much I relate. I have the same issue. I love, love, LOVE to write, but I'm always idle when it's time to put it on paper. I don't know if I'm afraid that it won't come out the way I see it in my head or if I'm just too lazy. When I do start putting it on paper, however, I can not stop. That is, until writer's block rears it's ugly head (that's usually when I put it down and never come back to it). I definatly know what you mean. My idea, though, is to just stop putting it off and do it. Even I don't feel like doing it at the time, I have to just do it. Otherwise, I never will get it done. And what's great about having such wonderful ideas if you never get to share them?

Yeah I feel the same way about my drawings. Just power through and start on the next one.

    • Start on the next one and never be satisfied with either of the piece, which will just lay there gathering virtual dust while I postpone revising/finishing them.

Yes go on to the next while you despise the first. Get it out of your system and don't go back to it. You need to be bad at something before you can be good at it.

If this really bothers you you're not going enjoy "killing a baby." That's when artists/writers destroy a work that they love so it won't hold them back.

You might need a spontaneous, unconventional vacation. Maybe a 500 mile road trip to a state you haven't been to in a while with only $300 to make it in and out.

    you should make a song

    I freeverse rap

i dont have the time for a novel or short story and no one would read it anyways

but rapping is good becuase you dont have to care about grammar its all about expression and rhymes and skills and creativity and fast thinking

if you dont have the time for a short story or novel then write a song, itll get noticed waaay easier

I know how you feel. I'll have this really great stories in my head but I can never write them down on paper. Sometimes, I'll have go characters and settings but when I do write it down, it feels rushed and incomplete. The list goes on and every so often, I'll get the dreaded Writers' Block.

I can relate to that. I often have so many ideas, but no idea how to construct them into a story.

I kind of have that problem myself! I love to write, but can be lazy about actually finishing a piece! I have periods of writer's block...and even when I do feel the creative juices flowing...I hardly capture the sentiments I want to convey in my writing. I don't know! All I can say is stay at it, you'll get better!

Yes, have you ever heard of writer's block?

    • Yeah, but never like this. I've heard of people who can't get ideas and I've heard of people who can't write properly for a period of time. Never heard of people like me, who can NEVER write properly.
