Is it normal to be totally freaked out by this experience i had?

I am in my twenties now, but this experience happened to me when was in my late teens and it totally freaked me out. I was wanting to get some thoughts from others as to what could have possibly happened.

Okay, this was around 11:00 at night. I was lying in bed trying to sleep, tossing and turning. I was about to turn over to the other side again, but I got a strange feeling I shouldn't. I didn't even open my eyes at that moment because I sensed I really shouldn't.

So, I didn't see anything then, but I just could sense it was a tall cloaked figure watching me. I could tell it was leaning over me, because the air flow from my fan became blocked off. Because I felt endangered, I quickly, without opening my eyes, turned on my lamp.

Then I opened my eyes. I saw nothing. I just sat there shaking with fear for a while. I finally got a little calmer and was still just sitting there deciding to go to sleep with the light on, even though I wasn't sleepy anymore. Then I looked at my comforter.

The pattern on it was moving in a snakelike way. It might have even been forming words. But I threw the comforter off my bed.

I then decided that I should probably read the Bible to give me comfort an stability. As I was going to get it from my bookshelf, my lamp started flickering violently. I turned on my overhead light. It didn't flicker.

So, I just read for a while with the overhead light and the lamp on. I kept watching for that lamp to see when it would finally stop flickering. Anyway, it finally did a few hours later. And I was finally able to go to sleep, although I still felt spooked.

Now, the bulb was not bad in that lamp. I still use that lamp today and the bulb still shines brightly years later. I've never changed the bulb. Sorry for the rambling story, but I would appreciate comments and your thoughts as to what this could have been.

Haha, might have been in a half sleep state? I went downstairs one day and my aunt was there in my kitchen and i said, "I dont want any guns G.I Joe" while i was making my breakfast. I honestly thought she was G.I Joe! (And no, she isnt butch or a tank or anything, shes an ex model i suppose.)

However, dont simply resort to the bible. I sound like a nob to you, however it "COULD" be sheer coincidence, but i have had something similar, when i have been borderlined attacked, in my own bedroom by something, boxes from accross my room hitting my head in my sleep? Light flickering, curtains falling down, door slamming etc. But apparently im a "magnet" for spirits or something. I dunno my grans some sort of psychic, and she had to get rid of it and claimed it wanted to rip my soul from my flesh or something, but i dont beleive in that stuff but that bad experience was just the once, apparently i got possessed alot by mischeavous spirits when i was young too. Ghosts are what you make of them, they wont kill you. Ive never heard of a ghost succeeding in killing a live human have you? I dont care, they can do what they want, i cant see them why should i give a shit?

Well I shouldn't have read this laying in bed in the dark at 4.30 in the morning. That just freaked me the hell out! Very normal, as I too am freaked out!

I threw the comforter off the bed when the pattern on it started moving. When I woke back up, it was on the floor far away from my bed. I did however, pick the comforter back up and sleep with it the next night with no problem.

this was probably a dream. i know it seemed very real, but even the tossing and turning was probably part of it. there is a phenomena where people are asleep but they feel awake and are aware, but are unable to move because of sleep paralysis (what keeps you from getting up and moving around and injuring yourself during R.E.M. sleep). during this state, they say they can sense a dark figure, sometimes called a witch. she supposedly pushes down on your chest, trying to force the life from you. you may have been closer to being awake so you were able to move. did you wake up with the comforter on you, or was it still on the ground? do you remember pickin it up?

I didn't feel anything on the bed, thank goodness. If I had, I would have been freaked out even more!

I think you should visit a psychologist.

    * Reading the Bible was a good call... Plus if you do believe in Jesus and you think something is there &/or you feel threatened all you have to do is order the "thing" to leave in the name of Jesus Christ... Anything that is an evil "being" has to leave- I dont remember the scripture for that but its in there. ... && The seeing something on your covers is creepy- did you feel anything like something sitting on your bed? I hope nothing happens like this to you again...

  • Uhm, hell yeah it's normal to be freaked out! And I've had an experience too. One time I suddenly felt very creeped out, so I looked into the reflection in my alarm clock of the hallway. It was crystal clear. Then, a black, almost clocked looking figure sped across my hallway, fogging off in dark black smoke. It never happened again, but I will always remember it. I still don't like reflections in alarm clocks.. haha. (: I just hope you never have another experience like that! And yeah, thumbs up on reading the bible(:

Yeah, it's real. I would not go through the trouble of making up a bunch of stuff.
