Is it normal to be upset at debates when the other cares not

My original title was too long. It was going to be "Is it normal that I get upset, when I'm debated against, in a personal subject, and the other party doesn't care?"

Yeah kind of a mouthful. Anyway for a quick explanation. I'm normally, very, open. I have no problem with disagreements, on most things. Even stuff I'm emotional about, I will at least try to compromise if the other person, is just as passionate.

What I can't stand is when someone argues with me, and it's clear that they could care less, about the subject. It hits a nerve with me, because I don't understand why they're putting forth the effort to debate me, when they really, don't care.

Some people just like to argue. When people do this to me it is because they like to see me all riled up. It can be verry frustrating though.

Yes, it is indeed frustrating. When one engages in an intellectual debate with another, it should be centred around a topic both parties feel passionate about. Otherwise, it's not really a debate, but a mere boring conversation.
