Is it normal to be worried to ask the real questions i have?

I have a lot that I would love to ask on this site, but I'm so paranoid that what I say could get me into big trouble. Everybody always says that big brother is watching, and I'm paranoid that certain things I ask on here could get traced back, and I could get into deep trouble.

Let big brother watch. The internet is a tool for us, just as much as it is for "them." Don't let your fear prevent you from speaking your truth. There are many more of us then there are of them.

YES. It took a lot of courage for me to post what I did, as I was a bit worried someone would think I was an absolute pyscho or something, even though I personally don't think I am. But then I realized that, hey, as long as I Don't ACTUALLY do it, I can ask if its' normal.

Yeah, you should be careful everywhere. It's not so much that big brother is WATCHING, but that if suspicion is ever cast on you--falsely or otherwise--he can track back over every step you took. And if you said anything incriminating here...

So yeah. If it's something illegal, be very very careful. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Nobody's gonna go back and do the work to link what you say back to you unless it IS illegal.

If you're going to ask about something illegal you did then yeah, I wouldn't risk posting it.

But you could ask about anything else and there'd be very little chance anyone would bother to track you down.

If it's too weird it may not be approved but my attitude would be 'Why not? You don't ask, you don't get!' The same with many things in life!

  • People avoid risk.....so they can safely make it to death.

Fear makes absolutely ZERO sense. Just cut it out and ask. No more thinking; just act.

I am a bit scared of this too. I use this user name on a lot of forums, and if someone were to search it on Google then it might lead here, and people can search through and find out about my weird ______.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. I've posted thousands of replies here but if you type "dappled" into Google, you'll notice it doesn't return anything about me.

Everything you do on the internet leaves a trace and everything can be tracked back. Truth is, though, that it takes a reasonable effort and you'd have to be a threat to national security before anyone would even try. As long as you're only asking the kinds of questions that normally get asked here, you should be fine.

Of the nationalities of people who use this site, their countries number something like three billion people. The chance of one of your friends not only finding the site, but using it for a significant period of time, and coming across a question of yours, AND working out that the anonymous poster is you, is very minimal indeed. You're more likely to win the lottery.

Same, but i went ahead and did it anyways, because it was driving me crazy. Sharing with random people as anonymous does give you some relief. At least it passed some time for me in which my brain wasn't driving me insane. =) Just be vague if you're really worried.

  • Haha yeah I never ask anything TOO crazy either. I'm actually afraid the one person who the story is about might be on this site and recognize the scenario.
