Is it normal to become paralyzed going back to sleep

For about some time I have been experiencing what i believe to be sleep paralysis. A couple of seconds after closing my eyes, previously being awake but exhausted I become paralyzed. It usually for some odd reason, does not affect my hands and I can move them slightly but with difficulty. I usually wake myself up again by moving my hands. This has happened more than once and I don't know why because I would think that most instances of sleep paralysis happen when you are about to wake up but not in my case.

This is called hypnogogic state and can be caused by all kinds of things such as anxiety, insomnia, too much caffeine, etc. It's fairly common, but is terrifying for the first few times it happens. Mine comes upon waking, my mind is alert but the body is completely paralyzed. I find the only way out of it is to relax back into sleep until you wake up naturally.

This is actually a blessing, OP. Try going further than that. You will be able to lift yourself out of your body. It's called astral projection. I have done it twice before.
The first time it was very scary and I only lifted my "arm" out of my arm. I got scared and it snapped back in and I woke up completely.
The second time I managed to sit up. After the second time I completely stopped trying because it is hellar scary

I've gotten it too, or used to get it. It's very unpleasant and at times, very scary. Some people can astral project themselves out of sleep paralysis.

It happens to me quite often as well. It has been the norm for me for a while, I am still searching for ways to help it tho. good luck!
