Is it normal to become pompous when annoyed?

One of my pet peeves is when people talk about subjects that aren't okay in context, like discussing blowjobs in front of kindergartners.
My reaction to that would be "Excuse me, ladies/gentlemen, but I believe that you chosen topic is rather mature for this venue. Shall we adjourn our dialogue for the present?"

I'm torn, as I don't think it's right to censor something so normal, but at the same time... There's something to say about preserving innocence for as long as possible.

    • I don't see how. I object only when the subject matter is inappropriate for the situation. Like explicit descriptions of blowjobs in front of small children. If they had been talking in a gentleman's club, that would have been perfectly okay.Would you mind elaborating in more informative terms on why that makes me "stuck up"?

        • That's not an explanation. And I would really prefer if you stopped insulting me.

            • You are the one who chose to post on my topic. You continue to choose to be here. Telling me to leave is like barging into another person's living room and telling them to get out. If you wish to not hear from me, follow your own advice.

    • I don't see why. There's a difference between discussing it as an abstract, and discussing it explicitly. The abstract wouldn't bother me, ever, and the explicit only bothers me when the situation is inappropriate.
But I have to admit, your username gives good advice.

    • Well, it's my alternative to yelling at them. It usually works better than yelling, though.
