Is it normal to become socially withdrawn when studying?

Hi guys,
I'm in my fourth year of my uni degree at the moment and I'm finding that I'm shutting myself off a bit socially. There is a lot of pressure to do well this year so I feel like I just don't have the time/energy to see/speak with others - especially when they're not studying and can't relate. I'm just wondering if this is a common thing people go through when studying? I feel guilty saying no to things all the time and I wonder if I'll have friends left on the other side of all the studying. I know I should make more of an effort and I plan to as soon as I get some time, but for now.. are these feelings understandable?
Thanks!

Yes, its normal...I can relate. When I was studying...I put social life aside. Just tell them....I will be avaliable on weekends, ect. If they r really ur friends they will understand that u like 2 have fun but also need 2 take care of business.

Yes and people should understand. I mean, try and make some time for them even if it's just a text or something - you know, keep in touch. I was similar when I was studying at university. Concentrating doesn't always come naturally to me, so I purposefully didn't see people much to ensure I didn't use up most my study time chatting etc. Studying is usually just a small window of time in the grand scheme of things.

In my view its normal because I'm like that. I hardly even accept phone calls during this time, except from people whom I'll need during the exam (I hate to admit that). In class, I do help them out. I don't like sharing the notes I've made. I feel that it is good to be a bit selfish during exams.
