Is it normal to believe that jesus was not white?

It can almost certainly be said that Jesus would not have been white.
Yet the notion that Jesus was black - highlighted this week in a survey of black icons by the New Nation newspaper which ranked him at number one - is genuinely held by some. One school of thought has it that Jesus was part of a tribe which had migrated from Nigeria.
And Jesus probably did have some African links - after all the conventional theory is that he lived as a child in Egypt where, presumably, his appearance did not make him stand out.

Ain't that gonna fuck up the white christians?

I thought Jesus has very tan skin. He was born in the middle east. I don't think he's white but i don't think he's black sorry. That's just my opinion tho.

"greetings, i am the son of god (your eighth cousin five times removed and closest living relative according to our records) and am in a currently untenable situation. i stand to inherit all of existence but may soon be crucified by some italians and israelites who are angry at my attempts at free speech and a minor disagreement with some usurious financial entities located in our local temple

if you could send my the paltry sum of $50,000 then I might be able to buy my way out of my current situation and you will be able to stand by my side and also inherit the kingdom of heaven

please remit your account and financial institution routing number to:

yasheua of lagos, bank of nigeria

    thank you and me bless"

He's a mideast jew. He's not black or white. St. Nick isn't black or white, either. Well actually, right now they're transparent.

Opinions are like assholes...everybody has one. Who cares what colour his skin was. The message should remain the same. That's why their are like 1000 different denominations of Christianity.

I tend to think of Jesus as Semitic person.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic_people

As an American person of Western European decent and a member of the Roman Catholic Church I do enjoy and appreciate the artistic depictions of Christ where he is shown with sandy blond or golden brown hair and blue eyes, because it's an image to which I can relate. I make no apologies and resent those who feel entitled to one. I believe that anyone who chooses to depict Jesus artistically is free to do so as whatever ethnicity they choose as long as it's done in a reverent manner. I see nothing wrong with depictions of a black Jesus. It's called artistic license.

I have had a dream about Jesus Christ, and he was a blond man in my dream. No big whoop.

Jesus was mostly a brownish colour. There is also a Korean Jesus and a Vietnamese Jesus, Black Jesus. The Jew Jesus was brownish.

I doubt he was black. I expect he would have been brown skinned, with features more akin to contemporary Middle East Asians than Northern European whites or Continental Africans.

I find depictions of Jesus as a white bloke with blonde hair and blue eyes hilarious and disturbing at the same time.

Yes. According to western society jesus was a fair skinned man with blue eyes. They can't accept he ain't white.

Well if we go by the bible then Revelations 1:15 says "And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters." Brass turns jet black when it burns but we'll be here all day. That's too deep.

i think they were talking about his feet glowing gold.. but idk the bible is very confusing to read and isnt always taken literally and sometimes is. Jesus could be freaking purple for all we know.

Native Mid-easterners don't have white skin. They don't look white. There is a movement/theory that states that the true Jews (Hebrews) were/are Africans and that the other types aren't real Jews.

Jesus wasn't white in the sense of European white, but he was Caucasian. Arabs and Indians are Caucasians, even though they aren't "white" per se.
