Is it normal to believe you are better because “no booze, no crack”?
Like say you were an alcoholic or a crackhead, and I come to you like “You know I’m better because I haven’t drank in 10 years and I’ve never smoked crack in my life.”????

You have absolutely all the rights to believe you're better than an alcoholic or a crackhead if you're not one. But telling them infront of their face? No!
It's probably normal to have those feelings, but if you actually said that to someone who was struggling with drug, and alcohol addiction then that would be what is considered a shitty thing to do. Why would you want to take such a cheap shot against someone who is having a hard time, and hasn't done anything to you?
But You drank 10 yrs ago so .. theres plenty of mormons and the like who have you beat there
To have knowledge, wisdom, and experience and to use it to belittle others instead of doing what you can to help people. You think that makes you a better person?
Why not try to help them get out of that instead of pushing them in deeper?
Normal to feel better than them, but dont say it to their face like that it's kinda rude. Like, really rude. We all have our issues, don't judge them to their face at least, especially if you don't know them. Would you like it if people came up to you and said their better than you because of xyz thing you've done or did that is bad? And also it could easily be argued that alcohol in moderation isn't even bad.
I don't know a single person in my life who has been profoundly changed by having a glass of wine with their dinner, so if anything I'd say it just makes you pretentious. Nothing more, nothing less.
Are you any better than the guy behind My pillow.com or whatever it's called? He was a crackhead for a long time and now, I guarantee he has more money than you ever will. So what really makes someone "better"than someone else?
No definitely sounds like a narcissist complex here or insecurity issue.
I don't drink or do drugs anymore but I don't feel smug about it. As long as people aren't negatively impacting you with their behaviour then why do you even care? A "better" person wouldn't rub someone's face in it.
Seems fucked up. I dont drink or do any drugs anymore but I dont feel special because of that.
