Is it normal to bite myself this badly out of anger?

I've seen others post about this, but they said there was no bleeding or scarring. My right hand has had marks since I was like 10. When I get REALLY frustrated (which doesn't happen often) I break the skin in multiple places, and I get to the point where I'm practically gnawing on my hand or finger. It's the only thing that calms me down.

  • Seriously, try therapy at the psych unit of the local hospital. They'll help you deal with your anger and frustration in healthier ways. Do it before you scar yourself further. You're going to regret it when you get older.

It's unusual and I don't think very healthy. Can you not find another way to deal with your frustration: go for a run or go to the gym, something physically tiring but safe?
