Is it normal to bite your nails until they bleed?

That's stress! There is a clear lotion she can buy which she can paint on her nails that is absolutely rotten to taste.

There are a couple of things you can try to help her :

1. Point out her nails to people. Women hate to be embarrassed by their nails.

2. Treat her to acrylic nails coz there is no fun chewing plastic and this should help her stop.

Nails have no blood. They are not flesh. They cannot bleed.

That said, she probably shouldn't do that. I have a friend who is teaching himself not to bite his nails by strapping an elastic band to his hands, and flicking it at himself every time he wants to bite his nails. It sounds a bit silly, but apparently it is working.

i always bite my nails so ive tried substituting biting my nails with chewing my pen, which actually works pretty well. I can't bite my nails if i have a pen in my nails.

Shes probably biting the skin around her nails as well, which could lead to permanent scaring if she doesn't stop soon. But its definately not normal, even though I used to do the same thing. Try making her tea, it will relieve stress and help with some stressful chemical imbalances in her brain.

I Do it all the time. Its a nerves thing. If im in deep thought or watching a super suspensful movie, i'll bite my nails raw
