Is it normal to buy expensive things and not use them?

I buy some expensive things and don't use them. I don't do this often or with a lot of items but there's the occasional thing I have to have, I keep it, I love it, I treasure it but I either rarely or never use it. I buy it for it's quality and for what it is, it's something I genuinely want however using it is another story.

For example, I have bought 3 expensive watches but I don't wear a watch. I HAVE worn 2 of them once each and probably will wear them again sometime but mostly they sit in the boxes and I go look at them sometimes. I think about giving them to my estate eventually, honestly....I have bought some rare video games that I never play, I check their value regularly and I just like the fact that I own them. I don't see it as an investment (haha) but more like I am keeping a valuable rare item safe for some future generation perhaps. I have some rare books, some vintage items, ect... And the same goes for a few other miscellaneous items, I just enjoy keeping them safe for me to look at and for some future possibilities.
