Is it normal to change your "availability" after working for a company
I hope this isn't too disorganized...
Essentially, I've been working there since January. I asked from the very beginning for a regular schedule, and they said okay. I said I can work any time, but eventually I want a regular schedule so I can schedule MY life around work but not have to switch it up every week because I'm trying to work on higher goals and I need to consistently work on them if I'm ever gonna get out of this dead-end job. (College, sharpening my skills, etc) I also specifically asked for part-time, as I only need part time hours.
So, I've had the same schedule for about a month and a half now, so I assumed that was my schedule. So I revolved my life around that schedule. My manager asked me if I could work another day, I said no but he gave me it anyway. It not only messed with my schedule but it fucked up my sleep schedule, and I have insomnia. I went with it because it was going to only be 3 hours but I found out that day they switched it again and I was forced to stay 6.
I asked him not to do that again and he flat out told me "When you applied, you said you were available whenever." I told him, "When I interviewed with you I said I needed a consistent schedule as I have other things I'm doing with my life." He got mad, and ever since then he's blaming it on my perceived abusive boyfriend. He will come up to me and say "Will your boyfriend let you work another day next week?" "Is your BOYFRIEND okay with that?" Another coworker says that when I applied, me saying I was available whenever was basically an "I will come in whenever you want and my schedule is always open." But that's completely unrealistic to me. Like I stated it's been 6 months, and he's giving me crap about changing my availability to the schedule he's set for me.
I literally revolved my other stuff around this job, I feel that's more than enough generous.
I'm also constantly praised for being such a good employee and often win contests for selling the most random ass food at my job.
